Benefits of Using a Patch for Your Omnipod

Using a patch with your Omnipod offers numerous benefits, enhancing both the user experience and the effectiveness of the device.

Improved Pod Adhesion and Skin Protection

1. Extended Wear Time: Patches secure the pod, preventing it from dislodging during daily activities or water exposure, ensuring it remains in place for its intended lifespan.

2. Reduced Skin Irritation: Acting as a barrier, patches can reduce irritation for those with sensitive skin.

Enhanced Comfort and Flexibility

1. Increased Comfort: Designed to be comfortable and flexible, patches adapt to body movements, which is especially beneficial during physical activities.

2. Minimized Discomfort: Better adhesion and flexibility help prevent tugging or pulling, making the Omnipod less noticeable.

Protection and Durability

1. Physical Protection: Patches protect the Omnipod from accidental knocks, bumps, or snagging on clothing, maintaining the device’s integrity and functionality.

2. Water Resistance: Many patches are water-resistant, offering protection during activities like swimming or showering

Stylish

And last but not least, if you want to jazz up your diabetes, then patches are a great way to show off your personality.

OR on the flipside, if you're more of an introvert (like myself), then you can choose patches to reflect that too, such as skin tone colours and even clear ones.

5 Best Omnipod Patches

1. T1D Heros - Get 10% off with TDG10

If you want a patch that feels premium but still practical, then T1D Heros is a really solid choice.

I’ve recently started testing these, and first impressions are genuinely strong.

They offer a range of Omnipod adhesive patches, but the standout for me is their floral collection.

So pretty

The colours are much more balanced than a lot of other brands. Not overly bright or “plasticky”. They feel more subtle and high quality, which I personally prefer.

The patches themselves are nice and slim too. This is something I always look for because bulky patches can make the pod feel more noticeable than it needs to be.

The full-skin and floral designs both use a soft fabric material, which sits really comfortably on the skin. It doesn’t have that stiff or overly medical feel that some patches can have.

So far, I’ve worn one of their floral patches for 72 hours with no irritation at all. That’s always a big test for me, especially with sensitive skin.

In terms of durability, it’s held up well through both showers and a bath. No lifting or peeling so far. Next test is a hot tub, which is usually where weaker patches start to struggle.

Overall, these feel like a really nice balance between comfort, style, and performance.

Pros of T1D Heros Omnipod Patches

  • Soft fabric material: Feels comfortable and sits nicely on the skin.
  • Slim design: Keeps the Omnipod feeling low profile.
  • Stylish but subtle colours: More balanced tones that look premium.
  • Good early performance: Holds well through showers and baths.
  • Sensitive skin friendly: No irritation after 72 hours of wear.

Cons of T1D Heros Omnipod Patches

  • Still testing long-term durability: Need to see how they perform in tougher conditions like hot tubs.
  • Less widely known brand: Fewer long-term reviews compared to bigger names.

2. Not Just A Patch - Get 10% off with code cazzy10

These patches are my go-to for Omnipod! They’ve worked wonderfully with my other devices and I absolutely love them.

Of course, they also have patches for the Omnipod!

I’ve had zero issues with them.

Not Just A Patch has a fabulous collection of adhesive patches for the Omnipod in a rainbow of vibrant colors like pink, blue, and purple.

They’re designed to add a splash of fun while keeping your pod securely in place. Each pack includes 20 patches, so you’ll be set for a while.

Crafted for comfort and flexibility, these patches are water-resistant, making them perfect for active folks who want reliable protection during workouts, swimming, or just everyday life.

I started with the bright colors, but if you want something a bit more subtle, then you can opt for their beige colour.

They stay put even when I sweat, and they’re so lightweight that I barely notice I have a patch on – which is fantastic!

All the patches from Not Just A Patch have a soft non-stick back section for easy changeability and skin comfort.

This means you can switch up your style to match outfits or just because you feel like a change before your pod runs out.

They also have a product called “Skin Glu” that you can apply before putting on your patches to help them stick even longer. This is great if you tend to sweat a lot or spend a lot of time in the water.

Pros of Not Just A Patch for Omnipod Patches

  • Wide variety of products: There’s something for everyone, whether you want to go bold and bright or keep it cautious and subtle!
  • Gentle on skin: Speaking from experience, I have super sensitive skin, and these patches do not irritate my skin at all.

Cons of Not Just A Patch for Omnipod Patches

  • Bright colors can look a bit “plasterish”: Some people have asked if I’ve cut myself because of the bright colors, because it sort of gives off a plaster vibe.

3. Skin Grips

Skin Grips are known for being TOUGH, and I’ve seen them everywhere!

While I haven’t used them specifically on an Omnipod, it’s the same type of patch, so if it works well on one device, it’s going to work well on others!

They come in packs of 20, and there’s a variety of styles to match different personalities.

My personal favorites are the pastel collection because I love the subtle colors. Skin Grips are so confident you’ll love their patches that they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee!

The patches have backing paper made of four tabs for easier application and use, and they won’t irritate your skin since they’re latex-free, FDA-approved, medical grade, and hypoallergenic!

They also offer a subscribe-and-save program, so if you want to commit to them, you can get more patches at a reduced rate when you run out via your subscription! Or, you can just buy as you go too!

If you want to add extra layers, or cut the shape yourself, then they also sell a long tape roll, which gives you the complete flexibility on how much toughness you want to add to your Omnipod.

If you buy through my link, you’ll get a sweet discount too!

Pros of Skin Grip for Omnipod Patches

  • Positive User Reviews: Many users report high satisfaction with Skin Grip patches, citing improved pod retention and overall comfort.
  • Skin-friendly materials: Minimize irritation and are suitable for sensitive skin.

Cons of Skin Grip for Omnipod Patches

  • Increased bulk: The added layer can make the Omnipod site feel bulkier and less comfortable for some users.

4. Type Strong

Type Strong is another awesome diabetes patch company that offers simple yet effective patches for your Omnipod.

Their Adhesive Patches are designed to securely hold your Omnipod in place for it's 3 day duration. Made from medical-grade adhesive, they’re hypoallergenic and latex-free, making them perfect for sensitive skin.

These patches are also water and sweat-resistant, so they stay put during all your physical activities like swimming and exercising.

Each pack comes with 20 patches, giving you a 2-month supply. Plus, they’re so confident you’ll love the patches that they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for customer satisfaction.

The patches don’t come in a ton of different styles and colors—just clear., so they’re perfect for those who prefer a low-profile look that doesn’t draw attention to their Omnipod!

Pros of Type Strong Patches for Omnipod

  • Free Shipping: Available in the UK, USA, Australia, and New Zealand!
  • Sensitive Skin-Friendly: Medical-grade and hypoallergenic!

Cons of Type Strong Patches for Omnipod

  • Less choice: The limited color options might not appeal to everyone.

5. Stick2Hope

Stick2Hope offers a variety of adhesive patches specifically designed for the Omnipod.

These patches come in numerous themed prints, adding a personal and stylish touch while keeping your pod securely in place.

I tested a few of their patches on my road trip through Europe a couple of years ago, and they were fantastic!

You can buy their styles individually, so I tried out 3 or 4 and found they stuck great, didn’t irritate my skin, and were subtle yet stylish!

Stick2Hope combines functionality with aesthetic appeal, letting you showcase your personality through your medical devices.

If you don’t want to buy them individually, you can snag them in packs like the butterfly variety pack!

The patches last the duration of the Omnipod and they’re water-resistant.

This is also a US company, and the patches are made just outside of Philadelphia.

They offer underlay patches too, which are perfect for people with sensitive skin (like me!).

You can even get a patch personalized with your own design if you send in a JPEG file!
